Fun-Filled Weekend...

Maggie turned 2 months old on Friday and we celebrated by running her ragged all weekend.  Her new adventures included a pizza party with friends and lots of little kids, a trip to the Weston farms for pumpkins and apples, and going to the nursery at church.  Jared recently joined the choir and today was their first performance.  I figured it'd be best if Maggie didn't contribute her own voice to the songs so she had her first church nursery visit.  She seemed to like it so I think she'll start making regular appearances -- our little girl is growing up so quickly.  We also tried on her Mizzou onesie for size, but after Texas scored multiple TDs in the first few minutes we turned the game off and opted for a bath and PJs instead.

We're all tuckered out after a fun and busy weekend.  Maggie's sleeping soundly in her crib, where I assume she'll wake up promptly at 1:30am turned in the opposite direction of how I laid her, screaming for food and wondering why her head is no longer under her mobile.  And Jared's snoring next to me, where I assume he will still be snoring at 1:30am and will wake tomorrow morning to ask, "Did Maggie get up at all last night?"  Guess I better get to sleep.

Weighing In...

Maggie is in the 50th percentile for height (22 1/2 inches), the 75th percentile for head circumference, and the 90th percentile for weight at 12lbs 10oz.  Today was Maggie's 2 month check-up, where I think the shots hurt me more than they hurt her.  Jared was the brave one who stood by her, while I coward in the corner with tears in my eyes.  Doc says she's a perfectly healthy little lady.

If only Maggie's weight gain could coincide with mommy's weight loss.  Yesterday morning KC was showered in thunder storms so I decided to break out the Wii Fit.  First Wii reminded me it'd been 280 plus days since I last turned her on...so I decided to delete and start over. Then it told me I was overweight. How rude! I yelled back, "hellooo...I just had a baby 8 weeks ago!"  But it didn't care and proceeded to remind me to workout every morning. We have a love-hate relationship now. Luckily the sky cleared in the afternoon to reveal a gorgeous fall day.  Maggie, Truxton, and I took a long walk through the neighborhood and was pleasantly showered in falling leaves of gold, auburn, and burnt orange. Have I mentioned yet how much I love this time of year?

We're going to Weston's pumpkin patches and apple orchards this weekend, so hopefully we'll get some good photos to share.

In other family news...
  • My sister, Sondra, and niece, Sadie, were in town over the weekend, where Sondra ran the KC Marathon in 3hr 34mins and qualified for Boston
  • We're praying for my Uncle Steve who fell off a 20ft ladder on to his head and had to undergo major surgery on his back and spine. We're all praying for him to heal and gain feeling in his legs.
  • We're looking forward to a visit from Grandma Linda soon! We miss her.

Counting the Weeks...

41 - the number of weeks I was pregnant
7 - Maggie's age in weeks
5 - the weeks I have left spending my full days with our sweet little girl

In five weeks I'll be back to work. Time flies when you're having fun! At seven weeks old we are having a blast. Maggie's holding her head up with less and less wobbling and she's discovering new things every day...sometimes every minute it seems. She loves bath time, sticking her tongue out, grabbing mommy's hair, looking at herself in the mirror, and smiling.  She's not so sure about changing her panties, Truxton licking her feet, or being woken up.  Last week her new adventures included spending a day with our good friend, Anne, and her first Starbucks playdate. She also took her first trip to the lake.  Maggie's quickly becoming a traveling pro and she's incredibly talkative.  Hmm, maybe she will be a lil' bit like her mommy afterall.

Here are the latest pics from the weekend.

Fall, La, La, La, La...

Happy fall ya'll!  It's no secret I love, love, love this time of the year. If I could find a place where it was fall all year round, I'd seriously consider moving there and opening up my own apple orchard and pumpkin patch. By the crowd we encountered at the Louisburg Apple Cider Mill this weekend, I would be one wealthy Apple Picker. See the grumpy guy in the back of the first photo below?  That's pretty much how Jared and I felt when we pulled up hoping for a nice family stroll through the Mill and found fields of mini vans and SUVs followed by a sea of white tents and tables displaying local crafters goods.  Apparently, the day we chose to go to the Mill there was a festival of some sort.  We stayed about 15 minutes before we decided a nice drive down 69 highway back home would suffice for our outdoor fall activity this weekend.  We'll try again another day.

(now we just need pumpkins)

Footnote:  We had a coulple adult social activities this weekend which brought back memories of LBB (life before baby).  Granted Maggie attended both with us, but she was a doll and it was so nice to spend time with such great friends. And Maggie got to experience her first party...she's going to be such the social butterfly.

Gettin' in a Groove...

As we approach 6 weeks of having a daughter we're starting to get in a groove.  Maggie's learned the difference between day and night, and at night she's finally sleeping in her own room thanks to this great contraption called the Nap Nanny.  It's really nothing more than a piece of foam covered by a soft blanket but it lets her sleep at a 30' angle, which seems to make all the difference.  I secretly think it may have magical powers. In fact, she's sleeping soundly right this second while I quickly update Flinn Village with some recent photos.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten in the groove of caring my camera with me much so I have just a few photos.

As for me, I'm really starting to love being Petunia's mommy and am learning a lot of tricks to keep our days running smoothly.  Of  course, every day is still Saturday to me...except yesterday when I thought it was Monday (it was Thursday).  And I am anxiously awaiting my pre-baby body to return, praying that when she returns she brings my memory with her.  I miss both of them!
